Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and our adjusting to daylight savings time!
This week we will be reviewing fractions, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions and fractions in word problems. I study guide will be going home for homework this week. Our test is this Friday 3/15/19! We are still learning about fractions. This week we are learning about equivalent fractions and how to compare fractions.
If you would like students to practice math at home they can log onto iReady. This will assign lessons based on each students needs. We started unit 5 this week. Unit 5 will cover fractions, fractions on a number line and comparing fractions with the same denominator. For more information please look over the parent letter linked below:

to give you an update we will be taking our Unit 4 test next week on Tuesday. This test will be on Area, Perimeter, base fractions (1/2, 1/3, 1/4 etc.) and polygons and their attributes. We took our x12 multiplication drill today so we will have our ice cream celebration next week as well on Thursday! If you brought in supplies before break I still have all of them. Thank you for all you do at home :) This week we will be continuing unit 4. Unit 4 is titled Measurement and Data. In this unit, students will be learning about shapes and their attributes, partitioning shapes into equal parts to find unit fractions, relating area to multiplication and addition, using rulers to measure length to the nearest ¼ and ½ inch and using the data to create a line plot, finding the perimeter of polygons, and continuing to work with bar graphs and picture graphs. Attached here please find the link for the family newsletter to Unit 4. https://www.georgiastandards.org/Georgia-Standards/Frameworks/Unit-4-3rd-grade-parent-letter.pdf Please make sure your child is bringing home his/her math notebook on a weekly basis to review skills. This week we will begin working on finding the area of different shapes. Thursday we will have a quiz over word problems and patterns. We are now working on unit 3 which involves solving 2 step word problems and finding patterns in in and out tables.
